More than 70 cutting-edge artisans delivered the lowdown on scope, precision and style during “Brooklyn Designs” a three-day design showcase in DUMBO, featuring the artistry of talented local craftsmiths of furniture, lighting, linens, rugs, and accessories.
Industry specialists took visitors on a voyage into the specifics of design elements, conducting workshops, seminars and discussions on how to achieve success in the industry, plus exhibited their works, at the largest show to date at four DUMBO locations: BSH Appliance Showroom, 1 Main Street; DUMBO Arts Center, 30 Washington Street; Smack Mellon, 92 Plymouth Street; St. Ann’s Warehouse, 38 Water Street; and The Tobacco Warehouse at Empire-Fulton Ferry Park.
The showcase – established by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to encourage new talent in the field of design – enabled international buyers and other design devotees to experience, first hand, the talent, skill and entrepreneurial character of the borough’s cream of the crop.
In addition, emerging designers were presented the prestigious “Young Designer” and the “Target Design” awards.
