Borough peaceniks joined a cavalcade of local groups to spread the good word during a peace fair at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University.
More than 100 community organizations shared the spotlight alongside poetry, dance, music and spoken word artists at the fifth annual unity and awareness day, presented by Brooklyn for Peace at the sprawling institute of learning, Flatbush and DeKalb avenues.
Visitors discovered the lowdown on a range of topics through seminars conducted in classrooms; among them, the refugee crisis in Darfur, the Iraqi and Israeli-Palestinian conflicts and their affects on the environment, plus how to bridge racial and gender divides.
Live performances added to the diversity of the showcase, which included workshops, information tables and guest addresses by area dignitaries.
