Making Obama look good

To The Editor:

This is in response to the recent letter from Deb Sugar who seems to think Sarah Palin is the greatest thing to come down the pike since the invention of the light bulb and sliced bread.

I am not a big fan of Obama, but the more I see and hear about Palin, the more it makes Obama look better.

What don’t I like about Palin?

Perhaps we should overlook the fact that she can joyfully kill, skin, gut and eat a moose (no, I am not a vegetarian). She is a card carrying member of the NRA and has said she won’t give that up. She did a U-turn regarding the ‘Bridge to Nowhere.’

She gave friends high-paying government jobs that they weren’t qualified for. Her husband advises her and sits in on meetings even though he is also not qualified. If she is elected will he sit in on cabinet meetings?

I don’t care what religion someone practices. I have a problem with Obama listening to his preacher’s sermons for 20 years and saying he never heard him say anything inflammatory/insulting/hateful.

But, I also have a problem with Palin’s church. They are an extremist group of Pentecostals. They are known as Holy Rollers and many of them speak in tongues. Will that affect her decisions?

Last, but certainly not least, is the McCain/Palin view of abortion. They want to overturn Roe v Wade, which will send women back to the days of back alley/kitchen, table/wire, coat-hanger abortions. Even McCain’s wife believes they should be allowed in the case of rape, or incest. McCain/Palin don’t agree.

Palin is against sex education in the schools. Maybe she should rethink that. It seems Palin was pregnant when she got married. Now her daughter, a teenager, is pregnant. Will she marry the boy before the baby is born, or after, or perhaps not at all? He has said he doesn’t want children. At least she knows who the father is.

What if she had been raped? That would change her life forever. Of course she would have to have ongoing AIDS testing. Then, what if she became pregnant? Would Palin pat her on the head say, “Now, now dearie, just go away for nine months, have your baby, give it away and come back to resume your life.” Or, would she want her daughter to keep the baby, a constant reminder of what happened? What would her daughter tell the child when it asks about its father?

If something happens to McCain and he is no longer able to be president do you really think Palin is qualified to lead the country? Being a woman isn’t enough of a reason to vote for her. By the way, I am a woman.
