A man died of his injuries following a collision in Gravesend on Sunday night.

Mohammed Rafaq, 30, was driving westbound on Ocean Parkway at 9:51 pm when he ran through a red light at the intersection at Avenue Z, striking a 2014 Infiniti QX6 that was headed northbound on Avenue X, police said. The Infiniti, operated by a 30-year-old man, struck a pole at the intersection before both cars came to rest.

Officers from the 60th Precinct rushed to the scene and found Rafaq in his 2005 Hyundai Elantra with trauma throughout his body. EMS treated the other driver at the scene, but he refused further medical attention.

Rafaq was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he died of his injuries on April 13.

The investigation is ongoing.
