Kaiser Park shooting
A gunman opened fire on a group of people inside Leon S. Kaiser Park on W. 29th Street in Coney Island on July 30 — killing one man and seriously wounding another.
Police said the gunshots were fired near Neptune Avenue at 11:26 pm. One man, 25, was shot in the torso and died of his injuries, police said. A second man, 19, was shot in the legs and transported to Lutheran Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition after treatment.

Caught on camera
A thief broke into a Brighton 1 Road apartment on July 1 — only to get caught on camera.
The victim, who lives near Ocean Parkway, said that the suspect forced his way into the home at 4:30 pm and ran off with an assortment of valuables.
But the thief didn’t escape unnoticed: he was picked up on a video camera running from the scene, police said.
Burglar fingered
A thief broke into a 65th Street home on July 24, but was quickly arrested after he left a fingerprint behind.
Police said that the thief entered the home, which is near 16th Avenue, sometime after 10 am. He ransacked the place and removed a laptop computer, but forgot to wear gloves: he left a fingerprint behind that cops matched to an earlier misdeed.
Investigators arrested the 20-year-old thief a short time later, charging him with burglary.
Car thief busted
A 38-year-old man was arrested on July 29 after he was caught trying to hot wire a Chevrolet parked on 25th Avenue.
Cops spotted the thief inside the car as it sat parked between Benson Avenue and 86th Street at 9:52 pm.
Teen jumped
Two crooks attacked a 15-year-old boy on E. 27th Street on July 26, taking his cellphone and $6.
The victim was nearing Gravesend Neck Road at 3 pm when the thieves grabbed him from behind.
“I don’t want to hurt you,” one of the thieves said as he struggled with the victim, taking his property.
Brutal boyfriend
A 48-year-old man is being sought for nearly killing his ex-girlfriend during a violent argument inside their Dooley Street home.
The woman told police that the two were arguing in the apartment, which is off of Emmons Avenue, at 8 pm when her former love tried to choke her with an electrical cord. He also punched the woman in the face and stole her pet cats, the woman told police.
Tool-taker busted
A 47-year-old man was taken into custody after he swiped an assortment of tools from a Sheepshead Bay Road apartment building on July 31.
Witnesses said the thief entered the building, which is between Shore Parkway and Emmons Avenue, at 11:30 pm and was in the process of removing more than $1,000 in tools when he was caught.
Back door man
A thief broke into a Bedford Avenue home on July 30 after forcing a rear glass door.
More than $6,000 in jewelry was removed from the home sometime after 3 pm, the owner of the home, which is between Avenues Y an Z, told police.
Laptop swipe
A thief broke into a 71-year-old woman’s E. 13th Street home on July 28, taking a laptop computer.
The victim, who lives between Avenue Z and Shore Parkway, admitted to police that the door to her sixth floor apartment might have been left unlocked when the thief paid her a visit sometime after 4 pm.
Illegal entry
Two thieves broke into a West Street home on July 27 — but were sent scrambling after the homeowner caught them in the act.
The victim said that the thieves entered his home, which is between Gravesend Neck Road and Avenue W, at 10:30 am — but left seconds later.
Bike scam
A thief swiped a 13-year-old’s bicycle after he told the Avenue Y teen that he needed the bike to show him “a trick.”
Yet the trick was on the 13-year-old: when the adolescent handed his $370 Haro bike over to the trickster between E. 19th Street and Ocean Avenue at 8:20 pm, the thief pedaled off with it.
