A 48-year-old man was killed Friday afternoon after crashing into a double-parked truck while operating an electric bike in Crown Heights, police said.
Authorities say the man was headed southbound on Schenectady Avenue near Lincoln Place at around 11:28 a.m. when he struck the rear of an unoccupied double-parked truck. He then lost control of his scooter and struck a nearby divider.
The victim, who was found unconscious and unresponsive, with trauma to his body, was taken to New York City Health & Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.
The operator of the truck remained on the scene and was issued a summons for a double parked vehicle. He is not currently facing any criminal charges.
The incident remains under investigation by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad.
