Missing Williamsburg man whisked away in van late Thursday night: Cops

A Williamsburg man is missing and may have been kidnapped on Thursday night by a group of men in a van.

The missing man is 39-year-old Menachem Stark, sources in the Orthodox Jewish Satmar community confirmed.

Stark was duct-taped and whisked into a light-colored van as he left his Rutledge Street office, the New York Post reported.

Police say Stark “got into a van with two other males” at 11:45 pm and have so far declined to classify the incident as a kidnapping, but an investigation is ongoing.

Stark’s wife called the volunteer Orthodox Jewish Shomrim patrol two hours before police heard about the disappearance, the Post reported.

He was believed to be carrying a lot of cash at the time, according to the Post.

A Shomrim dispatcher described Stark as is 5-foot-7-inches and 185 pounds with short black hair. Photos show him wearing traditional Hasidim garb.

The van took a right turn from Broadway onto Havemeyer Street, headed toward the Williamsburg Bridge, the neighborhood watch spokesman said. The force is asking if other businesses in the area have surveillance footage of the possible kidnapping.

Stark owed money all over town and online message boards are full of complaints about his property management company’s practices, the Post reported.

There is surveillance video of Stark getting into the van, which was parked near the front of his Southside Associates LLC real estate office on between Broadway and Harrison Avenue, cops said.
