Senior savior busted

A 60-year-old man defended an elderly woman’s honor inside a W. 23rd Street grocery on Sept. 18 — but went a step too far.

Workers at the store, which is near Surf Avenue, said the man was shopping inside at 11 am when he took offense when a store manager yelled at the elderly woman for apparently swiping an item off a store shelf. Outraged, the 60-year-old shoved the worker, grabbed a kitchen knife off a nearby deli counter and chased him around the store with it, before chucking a hot cup of coffee at his victim, scalding him.

Surprised workers called police, who charged him with assault and weapons possession.

Cleaned out

Two thieves took more than $350 from the Laundromax laundry on 86th Street during a gunpoint robbery on Sept. 18.

Workers at the store, which is near W. Eighth Street, said the thieves barrelled in at 9:45 pm, flashed their weapons and vaulted over the counter, demanding to know where the money was kept.

Pedestrian predator

The suspect then struck the younger man in the back — right in front of passing cops, who arrested him.

It remained unclear what exactly sparked the attack.

Car raid

A thief broke into a 2004 Yukon parked inside the UA Theater Parking lot on Shore Parkway on Sept. 17, taking an assortment of computer equipment.
