Gunned down
A gunman opened fire inside the lobby of a Batchelder Street building on Sept. 17 — killing a 27-year-old man.
Cops responded to 911 calls of gunfire in 2258 Batchelder Street at 11:10 pm, finding Kelly Avery lying on the floor. He had been shot multiple times. Paramedics rushed Kelly to Coney Island Hospital where he died of his injuries.

Senior savior busted
A 60-year-old man defended an elderly woman’s honor inside a W. 23rd Street grocery on Sept. 18 — but went a step too far.
Workers at the store, which is near Surf Avenue, said the man was shopping inside at 11 am when he took offense when a store manager yelled at the elderly woman for apparently swiping an item off a store shelf. Outraged, the 60-year-old shoved the worker, grabbed a kitchen knife off a nearby deli counter and chased him around the store with it, before chucking a hot cup of coffee at his victim, scalding him.
Surprised workers called police, who charged him with assault and weapons possession.
Cleaned out
Two thieves took more than $350 from the Laundromax laundry on 86th Street during a gunpoint robbery on Sept. 18.
Workers at the store, which is near W. Eighth Street, said the thieves barrelled in at 9:45 pm, flashed their weapons and vaulted over the counter, demanding to know where the money was kept.
Pedestrian predator
A 63-year-old man attacked a 28-year-old who was crossing in front of his car on E. 16th Street near Gravesend Neck Road on Sept. 13.
The victim was walking in front of the senior’s vehicle when the man got out, armed with a metal club.
The suspect then struck the younger man in the back — right in front of passing cops, who arrested him.
It remained unclear what exactly sparked the attack.
Bicycle swipe
A thief broke into a shed behind a Nova Court home in Gerritsen Beach on Sept. 15 — taking a $700 bicycle.
The owner of the home, which is near Madoc Court, said the thief snapped the lock to the shed sometime after 6 pm.
Car raid
A thief broke into a 2004 Yukon parked inside the UA Theater Parking lot on Shore Parkway on Sept. 17, taking an assortment of computer equipment.
The 60-year-old owner of the vehicle parked her car in the lot at 3:30 pm — admitting that she left all four windows open. When she returned to her vehicle about an hour later, it had been ransacked.
Bike swipe
A thief made off with a bicycle left in an Avenue W building on Sept. 15.
The victim pedaled into the building, which is near Coney Island Avenue, at 6 pm. He went back to retrieve the bike at 11 am the next morning, but it was gone.
