New addition on McKibbin Street

A new not−for−profit industrial center opened in Williamsburg this week, dedicated to retaining manufacturing in the community.

Deputy Mayor Robert Lieber, Borough President Marty Markowitz, Councilmembers Diana Reyna and David Yassky and new manufacturing tenants were on hand to celebrate the opening of the Greenpoint Manufacturing and Design Center’s new industrial center, located at 221 McKibbin St.

After a $17.8 million renovation, the 72,000 square−foot turn−of−the−century former manufacturing building will house 15 businesses and is likely to employ over 100 local residents in living−wage jobs. Units ranging in size from 1,200−7,000 square feet will house an array of artisans, light industrial users and small manufacturers. Tenants are already leasing space.
