Night moves! Dreamer wants to open an Asian-style market in Greenpoint

Call it Singapore on the East River.

One man has hopes to turn a portion of the Greenpoint waterfront into a night market like the kind that perfume the skies and delight shoppers all over Southeast Asia.

But Aaron Broudo, creator of Brooklyn Night Bazaar, doesn’t want simply to recreate an Asian souk, but ensure that his version has a Brooklyn feel.

“We’re ‘Brooklyn-izing’ the tradition,” said Broudo. “We will obviously have our Brooklyn vendors. There is nothing that exist like this in New York.”

The bazaar would take place on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 pm-2 am, with more than 150 vendors selling antiques, clothing and furniture alongside musicians, chefs and mixologists.

For now, this is just a dream, but Broudo is using Kickstarter to raise money to support his idea.

The campaign is encouraging vendors who would like to participate in the bazaar, to make a donation. After a donation is made, Broudo will go through a process of elimination and vendors who don’t make the cut will be refunded.

“We hope people will want to support this unique experience we’re trying to bring to Brooklyn,” said Broudo.
