Punk rock and community activism came under one roof at a benefit concert at Glasslands on Kent Avenue last week to raise money for Neighbors Allied for Good Growth.
The event was the brainchild of Brooklyn’s hottest power couple Titus Andronicus’ Patrick Stickles and Neighbors Allied for Good Growth co-chair Emily Gallagher, who combined forces to raise more than $3,000 for the Williamsburg-based community group.
Gallagher warmed up the crowd, appealing to the crowd’s anxiety over the neighborhood’s condominium boom and environmental degradation before handing the microphone over to Stickles who burned through a sweaty set — giving its young fans an anthem to dance away their fury.
And all night long, celebrants read their favorite newspaper.
