On the heels of Wendy Dale’s humorous travel
memoir, "Avoiding Prison and Other Noble Vacation Goals:
Adventures in Love and Danger" (Three Rivers Press/ Random
House, 2003), Boerum Hill author Ayun Halliday will read from
her own comic, self-deprecating – and occasionally scatological
– collection of anecdotes about her international adventures,
"No Touch Monkey! And Other Travel Lessons Learned Too Late"
(Seal Press, 2003) at BookCourt on Nov. 13 at 7 pm.
Halliday is also the creator of the underground parenting ’zine
"The East Village Inky" (which has been nominated for
three Utne Reader Alternative Press Awards). Her first memoir,
"The Big Rumpus: A Mother’s Tale From the Trenches"
(Seal Press, 2002) chronicled the highs and lows of raising her
daughter India, now 6, and son Milo, now 3, in Brooklyn. If that’s
not enough talent in one family, Halliday’s husband, Greg Kotis,
is the 2002 Tony Award-winning creator of "Urinetown: The
Musical."
