Car vs. cyclist
Police arrested a driver who they say chased a cyclist on Kingsland Avenue on Nov. 16.
The 27-year-old woman told police she was riding her bike between Nassau and Driggs avenues at 11 am when a 50-year-old man in a car started screaming obscenities at her and trying to hit her with his car.
The woman told police that the man often threatens and harrasses her, and she asked the police to grant her an order of protection. The man was charged with harrassment.
Bike robbery
A quartet of ne’er-do-wells attacked a man in McGolrick Park and stole his bike on Nov. 17 while preaching Polish pride.
The 18-year-old victim told police he was sitting on a bench in the park at 11 pm when a guy kicked him in the face. Then, three ruffians started punching and kicking him while yelling, “You don’t mess with Polish people.”
One of them stole the victim’s bike and the other three ran away, he told police.
Don’t let it idle
Police arrested a 27-year-old man who they say drove off with a man’s car when he left it unattended on Noble Street on Nov. 19.
The man told police stopped BMW X3 to pull it into his garage between Franklin and Lorimer streets at 10 pm. When he got out of the car to open the garage door, a the suspect jumped into the driver’s seat and took off down the road, according to police.
When the alleged thief circled back around the block, the car owner called police, who chased the man into Long Island City, where he crashed the car, said police.
Robbery thwarted
Two young thugs tried to stick up a woman on Woodpoint Road on Nov. 11, but were foiled by her screams.
The woman told police she was between Jackson and Withers streets at 6:30 pm when the two teenagers pointed a gun at her and one of them motioned for her to give them her money.
Instead, the woman began screaming for help and the so-called toughs decided to split. They ran down Kingsland Avenue and were not seen again.
Hallway highwaymen
Four teens threatened and robbed a 15-year-old schoolmate on Bedford Avenue on Nov. 16.
The boy told police that he was in the school between N. 12th Street and Nassau Avenue at 10 am when the four punks surrounded him in the hallway and pulled his backpack off of his back.
They told him they were going to kill him if he told anyone about the incident. The boy told police his bag was worth $130.
That’s not self-defense
Police arrested a woman who they sprayed a taxi driver with Mace when he tried to collect fare on Graham Avenue on Nov. 16.
The cabbie told police that when he stopped between Driggs and Engert avenues at 10 am and tried to collect the fare, the passenger refused and sprayed him through the partition.
Police said that when officers arrived, she refused to cooperate, flailing her arms and resisting arrest. Police said they found the can of Triple Action Defense Mace in her pocket.
