Brooklyn-born playwright Lynn Nottage will deliver the annual “Starting from Paumanok” lecture on American literature and culture, February 24, 6:30 p.m. at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts. The event is free and open to the public.
Nottage earned a Pulitzer Prize in 2009 for the play “Ruined,” which focused on the plight of women in the civil war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo. She is considered one of the nation’s most gifted contemporary playwrights and is the recipient of numerous awards.
This year’s lecture also will feature an interview of Nottage by renowned author and playwright Jessica Hagedorn. The interview will be followed by a question and answer session.
