A lightfooted lawbreaker stole a guy’s wallet out his hands on Bath Avenue on May 8, according to a police report.
The victim was near Bay 46th Street just before 1 am when a guy ran by and nabbed his wallet from out of his hands. The guy got away with $40 in cash and all the victim’s cards, police said.
Bad Samaritan
Some dirtbag stole a bunch of donated money from a Poplar Avenue synagogue on April 29, police said.
A man affiliated with the synagogue near Highland Avenue told cops he walked into the house of worship around midnight at found that some sacreligious crook had broken open and emptied seven donation boxes, stealing an undetermined amount of cash, according to police.
Internal Revenue Shysters
Two fraudsters tricked a W. Eighth Street man into depositing nearly $19,000 into their bank accounts on May 8, police said.
The man got a call at his home between Avenue X and 86th Street at around 8:30 am from a man and a woman claiming to be officials with the Internal Revenue Service.
They told him he owed back taxes and would be arrested if he did not pony up the money, so he deposited $8,000 into a Wells Fargo bank account and $9,900 into a Bank of America account they specificed, according to authorities.
Plumber can’t plumb
A tool thief relieved a plumber of his tools from the back of his truck parked at a W. Seventh Street lot on May 7, according to police.
The guy parked his truck at the lot near Boynton Place and returned around 10 pm to find the rear lock on his van was broken and his tools were gone.
