Reach around
It was easy pickings for a burglar who had only to reach into the window of a Second Street house to steal a PowerBook on July 21.
The 26-year-old victim’s roommate was in the building, which is between Fifth and Sixth avenues, at around 8:30 am when the long-armed thug made the snatch.
It’s a zoo!
Once again, the quiet stretch of Flatbush Avenue near the beloved Prospect Park Zoo was a thieves’ playground last week as two cars were broken into under similarly disgusting circumstances.
In the first incident, a thief smashed up a Mazda that had been on the strip between Grand Army Plaza and Empire Boulevard on July 20 and made off with $2,620 worth of photography supplies.
The 31-year-old victim lost an $1,800 Nikon camera, plus hundreds in ancillary equipment.
Four days later, a villain smashed the windows of a purple Nissan Maxima at around 4 pm, making off with the 36-year-old victim’s debit card, wallet, driver’s license, $300, and even her Social Security card.
Tracksuit attack
A striped-tracksuit-clad crook attacked a man on St. Johns Place early on July 20.
The victim told cops that he was between Sixth and Seventh avenues at around 4 am when the offender choked him from behind and stated that he had a knife.
That’s when the thug took the man’s iPhone and $85 from his wallet and ran — taking a moment to return the wallet, however.
Lost lattes
A thief swiped a woman’s bag off her Third Street stoop while she was sweeping up a neighbor’s yard on July 19.
The 48-year-old victim was down the block from her home, which is between Fifth and Sixth avenues, at around 7:20 pm when the thief moved in and grabbed her purse, which contained her wallet, $70, and, perhaps most important, her $25 Starbucks gift card.
Grand theft auto
What a surprise — only one reported car theft last week in Park Slope, which has seen auto thievery soar 65 percent this year.
In this case, a villain stole a 1998 Subaru from a spot on Baltic Street sometime between July 19 and July 24.
The 25-year-old victim told cops that she returned to the spot, which is between Third and Fourth avenues, and found the old car gone.
Subway stickup
A crook grabbed a subway rider’s Sidekick out of his hand underneath Fourth Avenue and Union Street on July 23.
Just after midnight, the crook entered from another car, swiped the 21-year-old victim’s phone, and fled with a partner, who was already sitting next to the man.
Brownstone burgle
A burglar stole electronics from an Eighth Avenue apartment on July 17.
Cops say the stealthy thief broke in through the back bedroom window at around 5 pm and ran off with the victim’s wallet, two laptops, and a Canon camera.
The 28-year-old victim said he was out of the apartment, which is at Eighth Street, for just a few hours.
