It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dominick Cangiano.

Dominick (Danny) Cangiano passed away peacefully in his home on Oct. 14, 2022 surrounded by his family. Danny was born on February 11, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the youngest son of Anna and Pasquale Cangiano.

Danny owned Cangiano’s Pork Store on 11th Avenue in Brooklyn. He was the best mozzarella and sausage maker in Brooklyn. He married the love of his life, Antoinette 63 years ago and they have four children, Nina (Stephen Cunningham), Dominic, Anna and Pasquale (Benish Farouqi). He was a beloved grandfather to his six grandchildren, Domenick Galati, Daniel, Andriana and Carson Cunningham, Moro and Maceo Farouqi-Cangiano.

He was loved by his nieces and nephews, many of whom worked for him and remember him fondly as a great teacher and role model. He was a perfectionist who always managed to make the impossible seem possible. He was a man of few words who would talk only if he had something important to say and when he did, it would take a while for the other person to understand what he was saying. His work ethic could not be matched and he held himself and those around him to the highest standards. He taught many of his young employees the value of truth, integrity and hard work. He loved the work he did and for him it was a true labor of love.

Domenick was predeceased by his brothers Louis, Frank, Pasquale and Cosmo.Contributed

Danny served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. He loved telling stories of his military service and how he enjoyed cooking for the hundreds of soldiers who served with him. He was devoted to his faith and found solace attending morning mass at St. Bernadette every day until he was no longer able to drive himself to church.

Danny was the sixth of seven children. He is survived by his adoring wife, children, grandchildren, his sisters Jenny Vartolo and Angelina Cangiano, and was predeceased by his brothers, Louis, Frank, Pasquale and Cosmo. Danny loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will live forever in our hearts and his memory will guide us through the grief that lies ahead.

Visitation will be at Torregrossa’s 1305 79th St. on Oct. 19 from 3-9 p.m. and a funeral mass will be at the Shrine Church of St. Bernadette 8201 13th Ave. on Oct. 20 at 10:45 a.m.
