Residents urged to watch out for stolen goods

The New York City Police Department is working in partnership with Community Board 12 and the community in attempting to further reduce burglaries in the 66th Precinct.

They are seeking the assistance of homeowners, apartment renters, and store merchants and are asking for your help in identifying a “Person or Persons” responsible for committing store and residential burglaries in the area.

Authorities believe that these people may be selling stolen property in the neighborhood. If someone approaches you to buy property, which you believe may be stolen, you are asked to contact the police by giving a description of the person(s) and the property.

The purchase of stolen property is a crime and you can be arrested and prosecuted for buying or having possession of such items.

If you have any information concerning stolen property, contact the 66th Precinct Detective Squad at 718-851-5603. In case of an emergency, dial 911.

The precinct offers programs for homeowners and business store merchants that deter and prevent crimes before it occurs.

A security survey of the premise will give you a sense of the “weakness and recommendations” to prevent intrusion by safeguarding the premise. This survey is given free of charge and is a written report for your review.

For information regarding crime prevention surveys, call 718-851-5620.
