A group of undead rockers jammed out on the streets of Clinton Hill on Halloween, belting out their brass-heavy original tunes of horror — along with favorite classics like “Monster Mash,” and “I Want Candy,” according to the group’s founder.
“It was incredible, it was amazing,” said Pam Fleming, who leads Pam Fleming’s Dead Zombie Band. “All the news was rain, rain, rain, but we had some special gods we talked to and we pushed the rain away.”
For the last 14 years, the musician has transformed her band, Fearless Dreamer, into the zombie-themed outfit for Halloween — bringing the ghoulish vibes of a famous Manhattan Halloween parade to the streets of Kings County.
“I used to march in the Village Halloween Parade, and one year I thought, why don’t I do something in front of my house and then go to the parade,” she said.
One local dad said the band has the caliber to play in larger venues, but appreciates their commitment to their Brooklyn roots. “It’s a good local vibe and a really good band — they could easily play in the city, but they play for their neighbors. So that’s cool,” said Cody Watson, who attended the festivities dressed as an AirForce pilot.
The haunted rock concert was just one of many events that overtook the brownstone neighborhood and its surroundings — which was packed with costumed revelers munching on mounds of holiday sweets, according to one Fort Greene resident.
“So many adults and kids were in costumes and people were handing out tons of candy,” said Lucy Koteen. “Thanksgiving and Christmas are family events but for Halloween you can be fun and creative.”
