Salsa on the Waterfront

The Boricua Festival Committee’s Annual “Salsa at the Waterfront,” this year moving to Sunset Park, will be held June 28 at the 58th Street Pier, First Avenue and 58th Street.

Presented in collaboration with the Sunset Park Business Improvement District (BID), and Community Board Seven, sponsors thus far include, Sara M. Gonzalez, councilwoman for the 38th District; the Brooklyn Delegation of New York City Council; NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, El Barrio News and CircMode Media.

The Boricua Festival is one of the largest Latino cultural events in Brooklyn. The committee has been working hard to make this year’s event the biggest ever.

The all-day festival, filled with music and dance, will showcase Puerto Rican culture and feature a range of well-known artists as well as community-based performers. Previous year’s musical artists include Eddie Palmieri, La India, “El Gallo Salsero” Tito Rojas, Viento De Agua, Sonora Poncena, and many more.

The event will also feature a culturally relevant marketplace with vendors offering food, clothing and crafts and, in keeping with Puerto Rican Culture, local artists will be present at the Cultural Corner displaying their paintings, sculpture and many other works of art.
