It’s hats off to Joseph Lhota, senior veep, vice dean, and chief of staff at NYU Langone Medical Center for being the proud recipient of the Health Care Leadership Award from the Cobble Hill Health Center at a gala fete on Nov. 17 at the Liberty Warehouse in Red Hook.

“I am thrilled to have Joe as our honoree and NYU as our neighbor,” said Tony Lewis, Cobble Hill’s president and chief executive officer.

The hospital’s new emergency room is located one block from Cobble Hill Health Center in the former LICH hospital site. Joe serves as an advisor on issues of management and policy related to the strategic direction of the organization. With more than 35 years of managerial and policy-making experience, he has held senior positions at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Madison Square Garden, and Cablevision Systems Corporation. He also ran for mayor in 2013, and was an integral part of former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani’s core management team.

The Standing O pal graduated from Georgetown University, where he earned a bachelor of science in business administration, and received his master of business administration from the Harvard Business School. He serves as a trustee of the City University of New York and has been a director of First Aviation Services since April 2002.

Fellow honorees include Lenny Tanzer, president of Patient Care Associates; Jack Basch, who will receive the Partnership in Health Care Award; Anneke Berken, who will be honored with the Volunteer of the Year Award; and David Leventhal, director of Mark Morris Dance For Parkinson’s Disease, and recipient of the Special Recognition Award.

Co-chairpersons for the event are Alex Solovey, C.E.O. of Theradynamics Physical and Occupational Therapy, and Jimmy Solovey, vice president of SmartLinx Solutions.
