Police in Brooklyn have arrested a 14-year-old boy for allegedly shooting into a strip of stores in February.
Officers cuffed the kid, whose name is being withheld due to his age, on Tuesday, May 7, at approximately 3:50 p.m. within the confines of the 67th Precinct, saying he was responsible for the barrage of bullets that went through a busy commercial corridor located at Rutland Road and East 98th Street in Brownsville on Monday, Feb. 12, at approximately 5:35 p.m.
Immediately following the shooting, the perp fled on foot northbound along East 98th Street toward East New York Avenue to parts unknown before officers from the 67th Precinct arrived, police said.
According to the investigation, no injuries resulted from the incident.
At the time of the incident, police were searching for a male with a medium complexion, approximately 5 foot, 6 inches tall with a slim build, and were able to track down the teen last week — charging him with attempted murder, two counts of attempted assault, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
Police were not able to confirm a motive for the shooting or if the perp had an intended target, but said the investigation remains ongoing.
