This weekend,
Edison, N.J.-based Aerogroup International Inc. will open its
first Aerosoles store in Brooklyn. The new women’s footwear boutique
at 142 Montague St., between Henry and Clinton streets in Brooklyn
Heights, will celebrate its grand opening on April 5.
The 15-year-old company specializes in making comfortable, stylish
shoes for women. The Brooklyn Heights location will also carry
handbags, hosiery and shoe care products, according to Karen
Sadick, vice president of retail merchandising for Aerosoles.
Sadick told GO Brooklyn that their spring collection, which ranges
from casual weekend wear to dressy, is emphasizing color, wedge
heels, World War II-era round toes, suede fabric and mules (from
the dressy to the casual).
Aerosoles’ "Glamboree," pictured, are double-banded
dress slides with flexible rubber bottoms that lend comfort,
while the bow accents give a kiss of femininity. These slides,
$49, are available in a variety of of-the-moment colors, including
this season’s must-haves, pink and green. Sadick said the "Glamboree"
has a look evocative of that "’60s cocktail dress, yet with
its low, 2-inch heel, is feminine, sexy and still wearable."
Sadick even claims that Aerosoles has created a version of the
notoriously heavy wedge heel that are easier on the feet. "Ours
have flexible bottoms," she says. "You’re not pounding
the pavement in one solid unit. It bends and moves with your
foot."
Sadick hopes the new store, which joins a Nine West retail shoe
store and the independently owned boutique Bentley’s on Montague
Street, will attract practical but style-conscious women of any
age looking for shoes for any occasion. "We want to be able
to fulfill all her needs in shoes," Sadick says of her target
audience.
The first 25 customers to make a purchase on April 5 will receive
an Aerosoles gift certificate. For more information, go to www.aerosoles.com or call
(718) 625-3135.
