Earth is left
behind as dancers explore outer space in a theatrical performance
that actually started out as an idea for a theme party.
Choreographer Colleen Hooper presents "An Outer Space Project"
at the BRIC Studio June 9-11.
"Everyone has thought about outer space at one point in
their life," said Hooper, who lives in Park Slope. "This
is a mix between a live concert and an imaginative take on outer
space."
The performance is set in the frame of a dream, following one
of the three dancers as her imagined journey through outer space
appears on stage. Hooper said the movements were inspired by
astronaut training programs and outer space phenomena, like sun
flares and constellations.
Dancers will move to live music performed by Metric Mile, which
Hooper described as "instrumental melodic pop with a dose
of modern technology."
"Outer Space Project" will be performed June 9-11 at
8 pm at BRIC Studio (57 Rockwell Place at Fulton Street in Fort
Greene). For more information and ticket reservations, call (917)
