Discerning shoppers can take Brooklyn’s own “Silk Road” to some of the most exotic and exclusive housewares from Central Asia, thanks to the opening of Caterina Designs in Bay Ridge.
The quaint store, owned and operated by Republic of Georgia native Eka Demetrashvili at the corner of 84th Street and 5th Avenue, offers a sumptuous selection of silk and woollen carpets and rugs, in addition to an extensive repository of marble souvenirs and furniture, including vases, tables and decorative plates – all painstakingly handcrafted by artisans in Kashmir, India, Nepal and Tibet.
Caterina Designs is open every day, but Sundays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
