Thousands of revelers flocked to Bensonhurst to participate in a yearly fun-filled event to honor a patron saint of Italians everywhere.
Each August, 18th Avenue between 67th and 75th Streets is closed to traffic as carnival-themed rides and games are brought in to the delight of area residents.
Residents also have their stomachs filled with carnival delicacies from sausage and pepper sandwiches to the ever popular zeppole and funnel cake.
The festival %u2013 commonly known as simply “the Feast” to Bensonhurst natives — honors St. Rosalia, the patron saint of Palermo, Italy.
