Park Slope
Move over the tassels for Slope sophomore Edie Hecht on her graduation from the apprentice program at the Museum of Jewish Heritage — A Living Memorial to the Holocaust in Lower Manhattan.
Edie is the granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor and attended the program of biweekly seminars that began in February and ended in May, along with 15 other high-schoolers representing all five boroughs and from diverse religious and ethnic groups.
Since July, Standing O pal Edie has been leading tours for young visitors to the museum and has worked in all areas, including the collections, exhibitions, administration, operations, and education departments, as well as assisting staff in its mission to educate everyone about Jewish life over the past century.
Edie will be a senior at Bard High School in Manhattan come September.
Standing O wishes Edie good luck in her senior year and says: “Keep on guiding.”
