Happy trails to you

Standing O is wishing president and chief executive officer of Maimonides Medical Center Pamela Brier a happy retirement. Our pal is retiring after 20 years of faithful service and leadership at the hospital. Board chairman Kenneth Gibbs will take the reigns at the beginning of 2016.

“There is no one quite like Pam Brier,” said Kenneth. “It is impossible to count the number of lives she has touched as the extraordinary leader of Maimonides Medical Center, working tirelessly alongside a dedicated staff. In addition to her many accomplishments in expanding services to meet community needs, Pam’s focus on teamwork and respect has been the bedrock of her tenure. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank Pam for all that she has done, upon which we will continue to build.”

Pamela joined Maimonides in 1995 as chief operating officer and executive veep, becoming president and chief executive officer in 2003. Prior to that, she served for more than 15 years at the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, as chief financial officer and executive veep, and as the executive director of Jacobi Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital Center. She has worked in health care for more than 35 years in New York.

“I’ve been thinking about my next act for a while now,” said Pamela of her retirement. “Having Ken Gibbs take on this role is good timing and good sense,” she said.

Standing O wishes Pamela good luck in her next adventure.
