Borough wide
Pedaling for a cure
Put the pedal to the metal for Ben McNamara. The borough bicyclist will kick-start his 100-mile ride to end Alzheimer’s on July 18.
Our pal Ben’s dad was diagnosed with the disease in his early 60s, and Ben is making this trek to honor him and his memory. “Alzheimer’s is a super hard disease that can often make you and your family feel stranded and alone,” he said. “To go to an event and be with others going through similar difficulties helps.”
Ben has already raised more than $1,300 for the ride and to help fight the disease, much to the admiration of the president and CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts-New Hampshire Chapter.
“Ben and the hundreds of other riders have made a big commitment to help fight Alzheimer’s,” said Jim Wessler. “It inspires us, and also supports critical research and programs.”
Standing O wishes Ben a safe ride, and good luck on his journey.
