Station break
A straphanger waiting for the F train at the Fourth Avenue station was thrown against a wall and robbed last week, police said.
The victim said that he was standing in the station just after 9 a.m. January 15 when 18-year-old James Mitchell allegedly grabbed him by the arm and forced him against the wall.
“Run your pockets,” Mitchell allegedly ordered before running off with the victim’s iPod.
Responding officers arrested Mitchell after a brief search, charging him with robbery, grand larceny, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
Cell swipe
A 21-year-old man was taken into custody for a cell phone robbery that took place last month.
Officials said that Kwame Robinson was taken into custody on January 13 for the December 19 mugging at the corner of Sixth Avenue and 1st Street.
The victim said that she was walking past the corner at 7 p.m. when Robinson allegedly pushed her to the ground, grabbed her phone and ran off. No serious injuries were reported.
Investigators arrested Robinson without incident charged him with robbery, grand larceny, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
Fire (escape) hazard
A thief used a fire escape to gain access to a Dean Street apartment, where $2,000 in cash and a GPS device were stolen.
The apartment tenant told police that he had left the apartment, located between Fourth and Fifth avenues at 3 p.m. on January 12.
When he returned at 10 p.m. that night, he found a window leading to the fire escape opened. The cash and GPS device were missing.
Cops were still looking for the thief as this paper went to press.
Playing the blues
Cops are investigating a sad song sung by the Conservatory of Music, who claimed that $1,300 had been swiped from their coffers.
Workers at the Conservatory, located on Lincoln Place, said that the money had been mysteriously sucked out of their bank account late last year. The theft was reported on January 13.
Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.

Going around in circles
A 32-year-old man managed to escape injury, but ended up in a holding cell last week when he tried to drive drunk around Grand Army Plaza early Sunday morning, police alleged.
Officials said that Ivelaw Grparthur was pulled over after he was seen allegedly blowing through two red lights.
When he finally came to a stop at the corner of Flatbush Avenue and Empire Boulevard, cops allegedly found him reeking of alcohol.
He allegedly scored a .130 percent on a Breathalyzer test — well over the legal limit, officials said.
Cops took Grparthur into custody without incident, charging him with DWI, failing to open traffic signals and being an unlicensed operator, since his license had been suspended.
Cellular steals
Two pricey iPhones were swiped from local residents in two separate incidents last week, according to published reports.
Police said that a man on a bicycle snatched an iPhone out of a 24-year-old woman’s hand as she walked past the corner of Seventh Avenue and Park Place at 10 p.m. on January 7.
The following afternoon, another thief ripped an iPhone from the grasp of a 39-year-old straphanger on a Manhattan-bound #2 train rumbling toward the Bergen Avenue station.
Cops were investigating both thefts as this paper went to press.
