A Dyker Heights woman died after a driver hit her near the intersection of 86th Street and 14th Avenue on Oct. 6.

The woman, who police identified as Cristina Alonso, was walking east to west across 14th Avenue when a man driving a red 2002 Ford Explorer travelling southbound on 14th Avenue struck her, police said. The woman was not crossing at a crosswalk, a police report states.

Paramedics took the woman to Lutheran Medical Center, where doctors pronounced her dead. Alonso lived about 20 blocks from the site of the crash.

The man remained on the scene, no charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
