After he and his staff personally inspected the area, and found that they are in poor and unacceptable condition, Assemblyman Alan Maisel told the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation that many of Canarsie’s streets are in desperate need of repair.
Maisel further noted that Flatlands Avenue between Ralph Avenue and East 108th Street was the most egregious, and that Flatlands Avenue, being the main thoroughfare to enter or leave Canarsie, should not be left in the deplorable condition that it is in.
The following locations in Canarsie have been identified by Maisel as requiring immediate repaving from DOT.:
· East 93rd Street between Skidmore & Seaview avenues.
· Avenue K between East 84th and East 87th streets.
· Paerdegat North from Flatlands to Seaview avenues.
· East 92nd Street between Flatlands and Conklin avenues.
· East 80th Street between Flatlands Avenue and Avenue K.
· Avenue K between Rockaway Parkway and East 95th Street.
· East 101st Street between Avenue N and Seaview Avenue.
· Seaview Avenue between East 99th and East 100th streets.
· Intersection of Canarsie Road/Skidmore Avenue and St. Jude Place.
Maisel is asking the residents to join him in his efforts by helping to identify streets that need repaving and to call his district office at 718-968-2770, with the exact locations that need addressing.
