The Wang Dang Doodle presents the Summer Surf and Twist Party with three DJs spinning the sounds of the sizzlin’ season for your drinking and twisting pleasure. On tap are DJs Gaylord Fields (WFMU), Domenic Priore (Riot on Sunset Strip) and Phast Phreddie the Boogaloo Omnibus (Wang host).
It all happens August 8 from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., at The Ottoman Lounge, 318 Grand Street (near Havemeyer) in Williamsburg.
The Wang Dang Doodle, known as “a solid, swingin’ time,” is a record hop hosted by DJ Phast Phreddie the Boogaloo Omnibus. Music featured includes Fifties rock n’ roll, doo wop, R&B, rockabilly, bop & slop, exotica, mambo, sixties soul, garage rock, go-go, instrumentals, pop, mod jazz, funk, seventies reggae and assorted other reet sounds.
Each night is a different theme. The Wang is held on the second Friday of the month at The Ottoman Lounge. Almost always, music is played from records: usually the original 45s.
