Ricky’s, the edgy drugstore and makeup emporium, isn’t letting a downturn in the economy stop the party. A second Brooklyn location will open early next year in Williamsburg at 191 Bedford Ave., between North Sixth and North Seventh streets, and owner Todd Kenig is negotiating a permanent lease on his pre-Halloween costume outlet at the corner of Flatbush Avenue and Bergen Street. The stores would mark his 23rd and 24th citywide.
“Our core demographic is moving to Brooklyn,” Kenig said, of his hair care, beauty and non-pharmacy item customers.
The first Ricky’s in Brooklyn opened last year at 107 Montague St. in Brooklyn Heights and it’s already one of the company’s top performers, Kenig said.
“The economy hasn’t affected us at all,” he said, mentioning that he is also looking along Seventh Avenue in Park Slope and in Carroll Gardens.
“We definitely want to be here,” said Kenig’s broker, Adam Stupak, who works with Winick Realty Group.
