Taking it to the Street Community Fair

Brown Memorial Baptist Church will host its Seventh Annual “Taking it to the Street” Community Street Fair Washington Avenue between Fulton and Gates avenues, August 23.

“Taking it to the Street” will provide access to information vital to the economic and social stability of the Brooklyn community. Representatives from several service organizations, including the Bedford Stuyvesant Family & Wellness Center, Health First, Brooklyn Public Library Adult Learning Center, New York State College Savings Program, HSBC Home Buying Program, Women’s Venture Fund, NHS of Bedford Stuyvesant, PRATT Area Community Counseling, and a host of others, will be on hand to speak with community residents and to provide informational resources.

Brooklyn residents will be exposed to the various community services offered at Brown, including Boy/Girl Scouts, MLK After School Program and The Brotherhood, all of which offer membership to anyone in the Brooklyn community.

Free healthcare services will also be provided, including a mobile blood donor station, HIV testing, and cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, and clothing will be distributed to anyone in need by the Brown Senior Missionary Society.

All of this will be provided during a day of family fun with food, rides, games and other kids’ activities. Children of all ages can participate in face painting, balloon sculpting, and basketball competitions.

Inspirational entertainers from across the metropolitan area will perform at the fair including Purelements Dance Theatre, Paradox Gospel Rapper, Nu-Inspirational Soul Singer- Khadijah “Vibes” Carter, of course our very own Brown choirs and more.
