Big-hearted boroughites battled a chronic disease by putting their best foot forward for a benefit walk-a-thon in Marine Park – raising $81,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The fundraiser drew mom, dad and the kids to the local green where they joined supporters, among them, Borough President Marty Markowitz, who traversed the park to raise money for research and care initiatives.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease, which causes the body to produce lung-clogging mucus and can lead to life-threatening lung infections.
According to the Foundation, it affects close to 30,000 Americans.
