Old Faithful reared her head in Gowanus!
A broken water main on Baltic Street sent a geyser shooting sky high on Thursday, flooding gutters and requiring a crew to cut off water to the property, according to a Department of Environmental Protection spokesman.
The Fire Department responded to a call at 3:37 pm on Thursday reporting water spewing from the ground at a construction site between Third and Fourth Avenues, a department official said. An environmental department spokesman did not respond to questions about whether the demolition work at the site caused the leak.
The property at 583 Baltic St. sold last year and a glassy, nine-story residential building is slated to rise there, renderings and property records show.
The lot’s water will remain off until its plumbing gets fixed, the spokesman said.
