In these troubled times, you need simple pleasures. But the best thing we ate this week — the burger at Building on Bond — proves that simplicity doesn’t means compromise.

Yes, it’s a humble hamburger, but this architecture-themed restaurant tosses chorizo into the mix, giving the resulting patty a smokey, juicy transcendence.

Add a bit of gruyere and pile it on a buttery brioche and the result is a three-napkin classic.

A burger this good — and it comes with nice fries, too, for $9 ($10 with cheese) — is possibly the only thing that could distract your attention from the decor of this quirky boite. Architecture accoutrements — exposed pipes, rulers, ladders, wooden clamps, blueprints, butcher block tables — give the place a 1920s clubhouse feel.

And throwback cocktails and a Tuesday night trivia contest that brings out the glitterati of Boerum Hill lend a geeky charm, too.
