The breakfast of champions

Gadflies got whiplash at a Democratic power broker’s annual pre–Election Day breakfast at Junior’s last Friday as virtually the entire political class traded City Hall gossip, election strategy and, of course, cheesecake-filled goodie bags.

Democratic state committeeman Steve Cohn, a once (and future?) City Council candidate, hosts the breakfast every year with bar mitzvah–like good cheer.

On hand were City Comptroller (and future mayor?) Bill Thompson, Rep. (and future mayor?) Anthony Weiner (right, in photo with Cohn and Rep. Jerry Nadler), Councilman (and future public advocate?) Bill DeBlasio, Councilman (and future councilman?) David Yassky, plus all the aides and hangers-on who make the business of politics so much fun.

Former Borough President Howard Golden (above) was also on hand.

Howard Golden, who served as borough president for 24 years before Marty Markowitz’s ascention in 2001, was among the scores of others from the borough’s political, legal, judicial and business communities who attended.
