The third man pulls a gun

Partial mediator

A dispute between two teens in Coffey Park on July 19 ended with a third party shooting one young man in the leg.

An argument at 10 pm near the corner of Coffey and Dwight streets intensified with the two feuding teens starting a shoving match — at which point a previously uninvolved bystander pulled out a gun and shot one of the scuffling lads in the leg.

The injured 15-year-old was taken to Lutheran Hospital for treatment.

Road rage

An enraged driver pounded another motorist in the face with an anti-auto theft club near the corner of Amity and Hicks streets on July 10.

A passenger traveling with the seriously injured victim told police that the attacker clubbed the 26-year-old man with The Club because the victim had obstructed the roadway at 6:30 am.

Police arrested the alleged brute, a 48-year-old man, and took the victim to Long Island College Hospital.

On the run

A rowdy bunch of teens attacked and mugged a man on Smith Street on July 11, but the victim didn’t give up and chased them through the neighborhood.

A pack of four or five young men and women surrounded a 36-year-old man at 3:20 am near the corner of Smith Street. At least one member of the group yelled “Get his wallet and phone,” and the rest started hitting their mark. They didn’t nab the wallet, but they stole his laptop from a backpack.

The man caught up with them blocks away at the corner of Hoyt and Degraw streets, where the hoodlums punched and bit him. However, police arrived to make one arrest, cuffing a 14-year-old boy.

Bleacher bums

Three teenagers attacked a man relaxing in Red Hook Park on July 15.

The trio accosted the 61-year-old man, who was sitting on the bleachers in the park near the corner of Bay and Clinton streets at 4:50 pm, demanded his money and whacked him upside his head with a folding chair.

The young crooks, described as 15 to 16 years old, took $145.

Pub haul

A burglar broke into a Smith Street bar and looted the cash register on July 14.

The tavern, between Baltic and Warren streets, closed at around 1 am, but the front door had been forced open by 7:30 the next day. Employees told police that $400 was stolen.

Tail end

A witness observed a man emerging through a window of a Smith Street restaurant on July 17 after burglarizing the joint.

The hooligan hopped on a red mountain bike at 1:55 am and pedaled off with $154 from the restaurant, which is between Douglas and Degraw streets.
