A thief looted an unlocked car parked overnight on Avenue U on June 25, that contained $52,740 worth of valuables.

The victim told police his bank sent him an e-mail warning of multiple suspicious charges on his credit cards at around 4 p.m., and the victim returned to his car near Burnett Street to discover valuables including his wallet, engagement ring, and designer watch were stolen, cops said.

Bounced check

A thief nabbed a check out of the mailbox of a woman’s E. 45th Street home on June 13.

The victim told police the crook looted the mailbox of her house near Avenue L at round noon, before altering the check to read $4,093 instead of $493.

The woman called Chase Bank, but the funds had already been removed from her account, police said.

An employee told police the suspect grabbed $1,297 worth of stuff around 6:30 p.m., before attempting to flee the store near E. 29 Street and Nostrand Avenue.
