Ask any Brooklynite to describe what subway rides were like back in the day, and you better have a good seat. Old-timers who remember when the Duke Ellington’s “Take the A Train” was a top-40 hit will bend your ear about the days of regal, carpeted subway cars, five-cent fares, and trains that ran so smooth it seemed that they were flying. Well folks, clearly those days are over. So, what will you tell your grandchildren? If this weekend’s any indication, the MTA has a serious PR problem looming in the future.
