This fire wasn’t as bad as it looks

Williamsburg book lovers breathed a sigh of relief this morning after a vicious fire that ripped through a Devoe Street building did not damage the beloved Brooklyn Public Library branch next door.

About 100 firefighters responded to a 911 call at 8:27 am and had the blaze under control 30 minutes later. No one was seriously injured, though residents had to be relocated from their building and a library Jeep was wrecked by fiery debris next to the Leonard Branch.

In fact, the branch opened on schedule at 10 am.

“Thankfully everyone was OK,” said the librarian.
