Muggers punched their way into a $50 payout from a man they slugged on Hanson Place on April 25.
The victim was approached near the corner of Fort Greene Place at 3 am by the pugilists, one of whom struck him in the face and said, “Give me everything you have.” That amounted to $50, a credit card and his ID.
Smoke break
A quick cigarette break was all the time it took for someone to steal a Pratt student’s laptop from a lab on Willoughby Avenue on May 5.
At around 1 pm, the student got up to take a break from the lab, between Hall Street and Emerson Place. He returned a few minutes later and the only remnant of his computer was the mouse that was detached from it.
Side swiped
A teenager’s Sidekick cellphone was ripped from his waistband on April 29 on Hanson Place.
A crook dashed past him, near the corner of S. Portland Avenue, at 3 pm and grabbed the phone, which had been clipped to the 17-year-old’s pants.
Phantom hands
A thug stole a necklace right off a woman’s neck at the Lafayette Avenue station on May 6 — and all she saw was the ghastly hand coming towards her through closing subway doors.
The 45-year-old woman was seated near the doors at 1:05 am and told police that while the G-train doors were closing, a man reached in from the platform, yanked the chain from around her neck and pulled his quick fingers to freedom.
Whodunnit?
A man’s Carlton Avenue apartment was burglarized on May 5.
The victim, who lives alone in a building between Flushing and Park avenues, told police he was not home from 6 pm to 8:40 pm. When he returned, his digital camera, computer monitor and designer sneakers were gone.
Chump change
A thief grabbed a computer and a jar of coins from a Classon Avenue apartment on May 6.
The resident, who was not home from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm, told police that someone stole the laptop and penny-, nickel-, dime-, and quarter-filled jar from his apartment between Gates and Lexington avenues.
Red handed
Police busted a man for breaking into a Park Avenue apartment on May 7 and stealing a game popular with yentas.
The suspect, a 46-year-old man caught in possession of a mahjong set at 1 pm, was seen by the resident inside the apartment, near corner of Vanderbilt Avenue. The thief fled, but was caught by officers.
Liquored up
Burglars broke into an Adelphi Street storage space on May 7 or 8, stealing a man’s two great collections: his power tools and his booze.
The victim discovered that someone had broken open the building’s back door between 7 pm on May 7 and 6 pm the following day. The hood took a nail gun, compressor and other tools, plus more than a dozen bottles of hard alcohol from the building between Willoughby and DeKalb avenues.
