Underprivileged kids receive holiday gifts

Big-hearted Brooklynites came together to make Christmas special for hundreds of disadvantaged children during an event sponsored by Children of the City.

More than 600 kids and 100 adults were invited to the headquarters of Children of the City, 740 40th Street in Sunset Park, where 1,000 toys and gifts were distributed.

Special guests included Captain Raymond, 72nd Police Precinct, who came with a contingent of officers, as well as Santa, Mrs. Claus, and several elf helpers. Also in attendance was noted actor and stuntman J.W. Cortes, who spoke to the children before helping to distribute toys.

Toys and gifts were donated by several partners of Children of the City, including St. John’s Bread and Life, New York Cares, Brooklyn’s 72nd Police Precinct, Basile Builders, LOréal, NYCRC, Brianna’s Hair Salon, Citigroup, HOK, the US Attorney’s Office, the MTA, the Board of Directors of Children of the City, and dozens of individuals.
