Police have arrested a man they say was responsible for the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian — and the serious injury of another — who were crossing Borinquen Place in Wiliamsburg early yesterday morning.

Cops think the suspect plowed into the couple as they crossed the street, killing 35-year-old Raul Delacruz and seriously injuring a 24-year-old woman in the 5 am crash.

Police charged the 27-year-old suspect with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury.

Horrified witnesses said they saw a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu send both victims into the air. Delacruz landed in the opposite lane, where he was struck by a passing Kia and trapped underneath.

Police say the driver of the Malibu sped off and abandoned the vehicle a few blocks away from the crash site.

The driver of the Kia stayed at the scene.

Delacruz was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics rushed the woman to Elmhurst Hospital, where she is in serious condition, officials

said.
