Victim stable after East New York shooting: NYPD

A man is in stable condition after he was shot in East New York on Thursday morning. 

Shots rang out at 1010 Hegeman Ave. at about 9 a.m., police said. Cops arrived on the scene to discover a 34-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and no suspect in sight.

The victim told police he was on the sidewalk when a man pulled up in a black SUV, stepped out of the vehicle, and fired at him several times, then fled on Fountain Avenue toward Linden Boulevard. 

Paramedics rushed the man to Brookdale University Medical Center in critical but stable condition. 

The identity of the gunman is unknown, according to the NYPD, and an investigation is ongoing.

Per the most recent police data, there have been 39 reported shooting incidents in the 75th Precinct, which includes East New York and Cypress Hills — down slightly from last year, when there had been 55 shootings as of mid-August.
