The hottest new
bar in the city is right here in DUMBO. On April 27, the Water
Street Bar’s (66 Water St. between Dock and Main streets) grand
opening party drew hundreds from the increasingly trendy nabe
and way beyond. Opened by four Irish ex-pats, the huge bar blends
a traditional oak bar feel with industrial finishes. There’s
a great lounge area downstairs and a DJ booth suspended between
the two levels. In the back of the main bar area, is a whisky
room with fireplace.
Besides the charming bartenders, the best features are the high-tech
taps. The two sets of taps (it’s a long bar, seating 40) keep
each beer chilled to its unique, perfect temperature. Pints are
$4.50 ($3 during daily 5-7 pm happy hour). The kitchen will be
open in about two weeks, serving upscale pub fare. The bar is
open daily, 5 pm-4 am; noon-4 am when the kitchen opens. For
more information, call (718) 625-9352.
