Highly comical
The Brick Theater reissues its Comic Book Theater Festival for a second year, featuring plays, readings, and even dances inspired by graphic novels. Tonight’s performance is “The Astonishing Adventures of All American Girl & The Scarlet Skunk,” a story about crime-fighting superheroes in the 1940s.

Shatter your stereotypes about mild-mannered Canadians (and confirm all your ones about weird Montrealers) when bizarre Canadian funk-punk outfit King Khan and the Shrines brings its manic live show to Williamsburg, supported by fellow Quebecois Red Mass and Vomit Squad. Expect scuzzy guitars, sexy horns, partial nudity, and go-go dancing.

Yoga flame war
Put up your dukes … then put them down again and grab a video game controller at the New York University Game Center’s annual Spring Fighter event. The couch-based battle royale will feature tournaments of “Super Street Fighter IV,” “Marvel vs. Capcom,” “BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma,” “Super Smash Bros. Melee,” “Super Smash Bros. Brawl” and “Project M.” It is free to compete, but sign up in advance.

Saxy sounds
The experimental music extravaganza that is Vision Festival returns to Boerum Hill’s Roulette for another year. This year’s fest will honor legendary free jazz saxophonist Charles Gayle with a lifetime achievement award and performance. Gayle will play with three different groups in one show, rocking the sax, bass, and piano, in addition to conducting an “orchestra” of other top musicians.

Swooning
Get up close and personal with street artist Swoon’s giant installation in the Brooklyn Museum’s rotunda, as part of the gallery’s Off the Wall series. The event begins with a screening of a film set within Swoon’s 2009 boat sculpture project on the Hudson River, followed by a talk by the artist, and wrapping up with a performance by the Submerged Motherlands Orchestra, headed up by singer Mirah.
