Laugh lines

Proceeding weeks will bring us “Godzilla,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” and “Maleficent,” but no good blockbusters are debuting this weekend. So instead, catch the tail-end of the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival. The “comedy block” at St. Francis College will include a film set on the L-train, and a mockumentary about creepy creatures in the Gownaus.

7:30 pm at St. Francis College, Maroney Theater (180 Remsen St. between Court and Clinton streets in Brooklyn Heights, www.aobff.org). $10.

Go for a spin

Make all your vinyl fantasies come true when Brooklyn Flea holds its twice-annual Record Fair. Around 50 vendors — including new additions Rough Trade, RVNG, the Bunker NY, and White Columns — will be selling their wares, while live DJs spin tunes all day. There will also be a beer garden, and free record totes up for grabs.

11 am–6 pm at East River State Park (90 Kent Ave. at N. Seventh Street in Williamsburg, www.brooklynflea.com). Free.

Skip they do

We’re not really sure what it has to do with design, but community group University Settlement will be holding a free class in double Dutch jump rope on the streets of Dumbo, as part of the Blkyn Designs festival. The fest itself runs May 9–11, and also includes talks, tours, and exhibitions.

11 am (Jay and John streets in Dumbo, www.bklyndesigns.com). Free.

Like a record, baby: Stock up on outdated audio formats at Brooklyn Flea's Record Fair on May 10.

Opera for all

Who said opera is just for the wealthy? Dyker Heights opera company Regina Opera will present a free performance of its new production of “Rigoletto” — Giuseppe Verdi’s tragic masterpiece. The show will feature many of the company’s understudies but hey, it’s free. You can also catch the regular show May 17–18 and 24–25.

7:30 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Auditorium [5902 6th Ave. at 59th Street in Sunset Park, (718) 259–2772 www.reginaopera.org]. $10–$15.

Wild courses

Get a free meal in Fort Greene Park — the old fashioned way. The New York Times’ “urban forager” Ava Chin is releasing her new book “Eating Wildly: Foraging for Life, Love and the Perfect Meal” at Greenlight Bookstore. And before the reading, she will lead a foraging tour through the park.

6 pm at Fort Greene Park [S. Portland and DeKalb avenues entrance, (718) 246–0200, www.greenlightbookstore.com]. Free.

The big 'Rig': We assume Regina Opera's new production of “Rigoletto” will be slightly updated from its 2007 one, pictured here.
